The first documented use of hair weaves and extensions was before Cleopatra’s reign in Ancient Egypt, around 3400 BC. Like most Egyptian rulers, Cleopatra enjoyed using wigs and hair extensions, and if the rumours are true, her favourite hair colour to wear was blue.
There are many different types of hair extensions to choose from. These can be divided into different categories based on how they are attached to your hair:
Tape-ins are the most popular extension type. They are great for adding volume and length to your hair, lasting 2-3 months with proper maintenance.
TAPE-INS
Clip-ins are great if you want a temporary solution. They are easy to apply and take out and can be used for special occasions.
CLIP-INS
Sew-In extensions, also known as hair weaves, are sewn into your natural hair. They are long-lasting, and the braiding method is used to create the base for the extensions.
SEW-IN

Choosing the right colour for your hair extensions.
Are you wondering what colour to choose for your hair extensions? We recommend choosing a colour that is as close to your natural colour as possible. This way, your hair extensions can blend seamlessly for a natural look. If you are colouring your hair, we have colour-matching services available in the salon to ensure you get the right colour to match your colour.
Maintaining your hair extensions
To keep your hair extensions looking fresh and natural and to prevent damage to your natural hair, it’s important to visit your hairstylist regularly for touch-ups and ongoing maintenance.
We recommend returning to the salon every six weeks for a maintenance re-lift as your natural hair grows out.
Removing your hair extensions
When hair extensions aren’t removed properly, it can lead to hair breakage, shedding, and damage. That’s why we recommend having an experienced stylist who specialises in hair extensions and removing them. Whether we have installed your hair extensions or not, we can help you remove extensions correctly and safely to minimise the impact on your hair and help you increase the health of your natural hair.
Caring for and styling your hair extensions
Just like natural hair, hair extensions require proper care to keep them looking their best. Our hair extension specialists will provide you with extensive guidance on how to care for your hair extensions to prevent tangling, matting, and shedding and what products to use and avoid while you have hair extensions in.
To help you, here are some essential tips for caring for your hair extensions to keep them looking healthy and beautiful for longer:
• Before going to sleep, ensure your hair is dry and pull your hair back in a large, loose braid from the nape of your neck.
• Brush your extensions twice daily in a downward motion from the ends upwards with a soft-bristle brush to prevent tangles and knots.
• Wash your extensions every two to three days to prevent the build-up of styling products.
• Use high-quality, sulphate-free shampoos and conditioners that aren’t oil-based to keep your extensions hydrated and soft.
• Ensure you use styling products that are designed specifically for hair extensions.
• Use heat protectant sprays before using hot styling tools. It will keep your extensions from getting damaged.
• Ensure heat styling tools are lower than 200 degrees Celsius and ensure hair is completely dry before use.
• Use a ceramic hair straightener or a hair dryer with an extension brush to smooth your hair.
• Avoid sleeping with wet hair.
